Intorduction : 

The Holy Quran consists of  114 Chapters (Surahs ), and each chapter is called (Surah ) in Arabic , and each Chapter ( Surah ) consists of many small parts ( or sentences ),  each part is called ( a verse) the plural is (Verses ) .  

Each verse , may consists of one single sentence or it may consist of many sentences .  

The number of verses varies in different chapters of The Holy Quran , and it ranges from 3 verses to 286 verses.  

The smallest chapter in The Holy Quran is Chapter 108 ( Surat Al-Kawthar ) , and it consists of only 3 verses .  

The biggest Chapter in The Holy Quran is Chapter 2 ( Surat Al- Baqarah , and it consists of 286 verses .

The total numbers of verses , words , and letters in the Holy Quran  :  

(1) The total number of verses in The Holy Quran : 6000 verses  

[ All scholars agreed upon " 6000 verses " but there are some views which states that they are more than 6000 verses ]  

(2) The total number of words in The Holy Quran : 77439 words .  

(3) The total number of letters in The Holy Quran : 320015 letters .

القرأن الكريم العظيم يتألف من ١١٤ سورة  

وكل سورة تتكون من عدة أيات ،  

وكل أية قد تتكون من جملة واحدة فقط او قد تتكون من عدة جمل ( كما في بعض الايات الطويلة او الكبيرة ).  

وعدد الآيات في السورة يختلف من سورة الى اخرى ، ويتراوح  من ٣ ايات فقط  الى ٢٨٦ اية .  

حيث ان اصغر سور القرأن الكريم هي سورة الكوثر الكريمة وتتكون من ٣ أيات فقط  

واكبر سور القرأن الكريم هي سورة البقرة الكريمة وتتكون من ٢٨٦ أية .

عدد الآيات والكلمات والحروف في القرأن الكريم بكامله :  

(1) عدد الآيات في القرأن الكريم بكامله : 6000 أية  

[ اتّفقوا على 6000 آية، ثمّ تعدّدت الآراء فيما زاد عن ذلك، فقيل: و236 آية، وقيل: و225 آية، وقيل: و219 آية، وقيل: و204 آيات، وقيل: و14 آية، وقيل غير ذلك. ]  

(2) عدد الكلمات في القرأن الكريم بكامله :  

77439 كلمة .  

(3) عدد الحروف في القرأن الكريم بكامله :  

320015  حرفا ( كما ذكر ابن كثير ) .
